Jolanta Gorecka won Association of VA Surgeons Resident Research Award

August 06, 2018

Jolanta Gorecka has won the Association of VA Surgeons Resident Research Award. Granted annually to one medical resident selected from nationwide submissions, the award supports the recipient’s research.

Gorecka’s study in the Dardik Lab will focus on the delivery of mesenchymal and induced pluripotent stem cells in bioengineered scaffolds to wounds in diabetic mice to accelerate healing. The goal will be to determine the most successful combination of cells and growth factors to promote wound repair. The research is highly translational and it is hoped that ultimately patients with diabetic foot wounds will benefit from such interventions.
