Language, Lifestyle and Brain Health

NIH Project Number: 5R01AG080429-03

  • Who are We?

We are a research group affiliated with Mass General Brigham (Boston, MA), Yale (New Haven, CT), and UC Davis (Sacramento, CA) studying the role of bilingualism on cognitive resilience and reserve to see to what extent speaking more than one language delays the onset of cognitive decline and dementia.

  • What are We Studying?

We are studying the effects of language use on aging. The study aims to explore the potential effects that language has on brain health as people age.

  • What is your Role in the Study?

You will be asked to complete a series of surveys on your language use and lifestyle. You will also complete non-invasive cognitive assessments to examine brain functions like memory and concentration.

Important

Whether you join the study or not, it will not change the medical care you receive at Yale New Haven Health System.
