Suresh Mohan, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery (Otolaryngology) and cares for patients as part of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Head and Neck Cancers Program in New Haven and Milford, CT. He earned his medical degree from Brown University and completed a one-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health investigating novel small molecule inhibitors for head and neck cancer. He then completed a seven-year research track residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School, and a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at University of California-San Francisco.
Dr. Mohan’s clinical expertise is focused on full spectrum dynamic and static reanimation for patients with facial paralysis, microvascular reconstruction for patients with head and neck cancer, and Mohs reconstruction for patients with skin cancers. He also performs functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty, facial trauma repair, gender affirmation surgery, corneal neurotization, and cosmetic treatment of the aging face. Dr. Mohan works carefully to understand each patient’s individual concerns, provide them with tailored options, and help make decisions based on mutual respect and trust. His long-term research interest is to advance clinical outcomes in facial palsy and nerve repair through an improved understanding of the molecular foundations of peripheral nerve regeneration. Dr. Mohan has won several awards for his research and teaching, has over 30 peer-reviewed publications to date, and serves as a reviewer for multiple prominent journals in Otolaryngology.
