Psychotherapeutic Interventions in Clinical Trials of Psychedelics for the Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder
Adversity, Brain, Novel Therapeutics (ABN) Lab
At Yale’s Dr. Anahita Bassir Nia Laboratory (ABN Lab), our research aims to find novel treatments for stress-related disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders. We are interested in translational research to use evidence from preclinical studies and understand the underlying neurobiology of PTSD and addiction. We conduct various studies, including human laboratory experiments, brain imaging, and clinical trials.
Questions We Seek to Answer:
- What is the interaction between stress and cannabis use?
- How does trauma influence the development and persistence of substance use disorders?
- What is the impact of childhood stress on the stress regulatory systems such as the endocannabinoid system?
- Can we target the endocannabinoid system in the treatment of substance use disorders and PTSD?
- Can psychedelics such as psilocybin, DMT, and MDMA be used as part of a more effective treatment for substance use disorders and PTSD?
