Breast cancers normally start in the area of the breast that makes milk, called glandular tissues, says Adriana Kahn, MD, medical oncologist and breast cancer researcher at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital. “At times, the cancer can expand through lymphatic vessels and reach the normal skin, which is visibly seen as redness and inflammation,” she says. These symptoms can arise because of two types of breast cancers.
