Inaugural Robert S. Sherwin YCCI All Scholar Day Will Be Thursday, March 14

February 05, 2019

First launched by Dr. Robert “Bob” S. Sherwin, the YCCI All Scholar Day has been an annual celebration of the center’s educational programs and the accomplishments of the trainees and scholars at all levels. Now in its thirteenth year, the YCCI has supported more than 137 junior faculty members. The Scholars have gone on to successfully compete for more than 700 grants worth over $400 million, have published over 4,000 papers, and 99 percent of whom remain engaged in research.

The successes of the program are a reflection of Dr. Sherwin’s visionary leadership, tremendous dedication, and passion for training the next generation of clinical and translational researchers. It is in honor of Dr. Sherwin’s incredible contributions to clinical and translational research, and his having mentored nearly 100 faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students, that the YCCI All Scholar Day has been renamed the Robert S. Sherwin YCCI All Scholar Day. Please join us for this year’s combined celebration of the YCCI trainees and Bob’s incredible legacy.

The event will be held on March 14, 2019, starting at 8:30 a.m. at 333 Cedar Street in the Mary S. Harkness Auditorium. The keynote and guest speakers will include Michael G. Kurilla, MD, PhD, the Director for the Division of Clinical Innovation, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, National Institutes of Health; Rory McCrimmon, MD, Dean, School of Medicine & Professor of Experimental Diabetes and Metabolism, University of Dundee, Scotland; and Kenneth S. Polonsky, MD, Executive Vice President of the University for Biology and Medicine and President of the University of Chicago Health System.

Deadline for registration is March 8, 2019.
