Biography
Mateus holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedicine and a Master's degree in Neuroscience and Cell Biology, with an emphasis on Neuropharmacology and Neurochemistry, from the Federal University of Pará (Belém, Brazil). Previously, Mateus developed works focusing on the pathogenesis of anxiety-like disorders within a biochemical perspective, as well as on the signaling mechanisms of gliotransmitters - with emphasis on the glutathione peptide. He is currently a member of the Horvath Lab and has a keen interest in: 1) Hypothalamic signaling mechanisms regulating metabolism; 2) Body-Brain communication axis; 3) Neurochemistry of Central Nervous System development.
