Clinical Care

Overview

Tulin Ozcan, MD, is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who takes care of women with high-risk pregnancies. She has a special interest in prenatal imaging and the diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, as well as a strong background and experience in fetal echocardiography and advanced ultrasound.

Dr. Ozcan says she was drawn to her field because pregnancy, most of the time, is a happy experience. “It’s very rewarding. Even if the miracle of birth is happening for the billionth time, it’s still a miracle and it’s nice to be a part of it,” she says. “I also like to work with women who are going through challenges, and it’s the only discipline where you get to take care of two people at the same time.”

When it comes to working with expectant mothers who are dealing with a complicated pregnancy, Dr. Ozcan says she works to put them at ease. “I tell them that we will take good care of them and that we are a team and we will always be there to help them along the way. I make sure to be honest and realistic when sharing information and make every effort to understand their expectations to be able to offer a patient centered care,” she says.

Dr. Ozcan treats a variety of conditions, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia (a pregnancy complication that causes high blood pressure), and placental previa (when the placenta covers the opening of the mother’s cervix).
