Biography
Hello, I am Dr. Timothy Tran, an Associate Professor of Urology at Yale. I practice Urology at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.
After completing my undergraduate studies in molecular biology at Princeton University, I attended Albany Medical College for my medical education. This experience further solidified my passion for medicine and paved the way for my fulfilling path in urology. I embarked on my residency at Brown University, where I received comprehensive training in all aspects of urology, equipping me with the skills needed to address a wide range of urological conditions, including BPH, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and kidney stones. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for kidney stones and decided to delve deeper into research.
Dedicating myself to understanding the complexities of kidney stones, I conducted studies on shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, and metabolic stone disease. The recognition of my research in the urological community through international presentations and published studies encouraged me to continue exploring innovative solutions for patients suffering from kidney stones.
Eager to further hone my surgical skills and expand my knowledge of stone prevention, I pursued additional training at the esteemed Kidney Stone Institute at Mount Sinai in New York. The experience was transformative, providing me with advanced surgical techniques for kidney stone removal and an in-depth understanding of stone prevention strategies. This experience solidified my commitment to providing personalized, state-of-the-art treatments tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Throughout my career, my focus has always been on patient-centered care. Listening attentively to my patients, understanding their concerns, and collaborating with them on tailored treatment plans is at the core of my practice. This patient-centric approach has earned me the Yale Urology Department's award for Clinical Excellence, a recognition I deeply value and cherish.
Contributing to the advancement of urological knowledge is a passion that drives me. I have been fortunate to publish numerous scientific papers and present my findings at various conferences, which has allowed me to share valuable insights with the medical community and contribute to the understanding and management of kidney stones.
My burgeoning interest in improving the efficiency of medical care was recognized when I was nominated to join the Emerging Leaders Program at the Yale School of Management. This opportunity has allowed me to gain valuable insights into healthcare management and explore ways to enhance the overall patient experience while optimizing healthcare delivery.
Recently, I was honored with a promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor at Yale's esteemed Urology Department. This recognition is a humbling testament to my growing reputation as a clinician and it motivates me to continue striving for excellence in my field.
As a member of the Yale Urology team, I remain committed to providing compassionate care and making a positive impact on the lives of my patients. My journey has been one of continuous learning and growth, and I am excited to continue this path of exploration and service in urology for many years to come.
