Clinical Care

Overview

Golden Marjorie, MD, is an infectious diseases doctor who cares for patients with a variety of conditions. She is a specialist in HIV/AIDS. She also prevents and treats diabetic foot, prosthetic joint, and urinary tract infections.

“Infectious diseases is one of the few specialties where we are able to actually cure patients,” says Dr. Golden. The field is constantly changing as new treatments become available and new diseases are identified, she adds. It’s also a field where a doctor may follow patients for months or years, and she enjoys getting to know them over time. “I love my personal interactions with patients,” she says.

Dr. Golden is the chief for infectious diseases for the Saint Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. She is the northeast co-chair of the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Yale School of Medicine has recognized her twice as Research Attending of the Year for her work supervising medical residents as they conduct research projects, many of which have focused on ensuring that patients with HIV receive adequate primary care.

“I am driven to be sure my patients feel that I listen to and care about them,” Dr. Golden says. She tells all of her patients, “We will get through this together.”
