Welcome to the HHT and Vascular Malformation Program

The Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiecatsia (HHT) and Vascular Malformation Program is comprised of a senior group of physicians whose major clinical and research expertise is devoted to treating and understanding HHT and vascular malformations. Our care of patients is a multi-disciplinary effort housed in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, Section of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Our Vision

The HHT and Vascular Malformation Program is a model of success. Since its development at Yale School of Medicine in 1994, our center’s principals of care have been adopted and replicated by HHT Centers worldwide.

Yale HHT Program Impact

Clinical Care

The program is highly active clinically both in our outpatient clinics and with interventional radiology procedures for patients with pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (AVM). All other aspects of HHT, such as nosebleeds, gastrointestinal bleeding, iron deficiency anemia, the cardiac and other sequelae of liver vascular malformations, brain AVM, and pulmonary hypertension are also managed by our program faculty. Our team's approach to treatment and follow-up has attracted HHT patients from Europe and South America, with over two-thirds of the patients coming from outside Connecticut.

Teaching

The HHT Center faculty teach medical students, residents and fellows about HHT and its management and at national and international conferences on topics concerning HHT and its manifestations. The faculty also publish on HHT in peer reviewed medical journals and textbooks more geared toward medical students.

Research

Our primary goal is to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care for patients and families with HHT and for patients with vascular malformations and to increase our understanding of these conditions through research and collaboration with the HHT foundation and community (please see Publications Tab).
