September 30, 2024

Clinical Fellow Wasan Wahab is one of two recipients of the Epilepsy Study Consortium Mini-Grant, a national award from the American Epilepsy Society (AES).

This grant benefits Wahab’s current research into the effect of cenobamate on seizures in patients with medically refractory epilepsy. She is conducting this research alongside mentors Imran Quraishi, MD, PhD, associate professor of neurology, and Larry Hirsch, MD, professor of neurology and academic chief, Division of Epilepsy and EEG.

Through continued research on epilepsy therapies, Wahab’s goal is to improve quality of life for epilepsy patients.

“Ultimately, my career goal is to advance the quality of care for epilepsy patients by integrating cutting-edge research on novel therapeutics, medical devices, and quality improvement strategies, which I am further developing through my master’s degree program in patient safety and quality improvement,” she said. “The mentorship and guidance I received have been crucial to this project, as well as to other efforts in which I am currently involved.”
