Grilo Tops Published Scholar Rankings in Field of Eating Disorders

February 25, 2025

Carlos Grilo, PhD, professor of psychiatry, is the highest ranked published scholar in the field of eating disorders in the past five years, according to new rankings released by ScholarGPS.

Grilo, director of the Program for Obesity, Weight, and Eating Research (POWER) at Yale, is also ranked #3 in ScholarGPS’s lifetime rankings of published scholars.

According to ScholarGPS, ranked scholars are the most productive (number of publications) authors whose works are of profound impact (citations) and of utmost quality (h-index).

ScholarGPS bases its rankings on lifetime or prior five-year activity, weighting each publication and citation by the number of authors, and excluding self-citations. All scholars, including inactive, deceased, and retired scholars, are included.

Grilo is an internationally-recognized expert on eating disorders, obesity, and manifestations of disordered eating. His secondary clinical-research interests include psychopathology, personality disorders, addictions, and the sociocultural contexts of functioning.

He will give the talk, “Recent Advances in the Treatment of Binge-Eating Disorder with Obesity in Adults” at the Yale Health Psychology Virtual Forum on March 7, 2025 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. The program, which will feature other Yale Department of Psychiatry faculty, is free and open to the public. Please click here for more information and to register.
