Richard Bronen, MD

Richard Bronen is a Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University, with a secondary appointment in Neurosurgery. He has been a Vice Chair or Director of Faculty Affairs for the Department of Radiology since 2003. Past administrative positions also include Chief of Yale Neuroradiology Section. As a Board Certified Neuroradiologist, he has expertise in the interpretation of CT, MRI, and vascular imaging studies of the brain, face, neck, and spine. He has received the annual Top Doctors honors for Neuroradiology, each year since 2013.

Dr. Bronen has achieved international recognition for his expertise and research of MR imaging for epilepsy and he serves as the imaging specialist for the Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. His research on brain anatomy, seizures and epilepsy has impacted the fields of imaging of epilepsy, congenital developmental disorders (such as focal cortical dysplasia), and hippocampal & temporal lobe anatomy. He is also recognized for his expertise of imaging of pituitary/sella turcica disorders and imaging of pediatric abusive head trauma. Dr. Bronen is ranked among the top 50 most cited neuroradiologists in the United States, based on citations of published scholarship.
