We are delighted to announce the appointment of Vivek Parwani, MD, as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
In this newly elevated leadership role, Dr. Parwani will oversee clinical operations across all sites, guiding strategic initiatives to advance the department’s mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered emergency care. As a key member of the senior leadership team, he will lead the design and implementation of clinical programs that support greater integration of physician services.
Dr. Parwani will also play a pivotal role in aligning the department’s clinical Sections and Divisions—including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency ultrasound, quality and safety, clinical informatics, advanced practice provider supervision, and revenue cycle operations—to promote excellence, consistency, and collaboration.
A respected leader within Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Parwani has served as Medical Director of the York Street Campus Emergency Department since 2013. During his tenure, he spearheaded numerous initiatives to improve ED throughput, enhance capacity management, and optimize operational performance. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing efficiency, safety, and patient experience across the system. Beyond these local accomplishments, Dr. Parwani is a nationally recognized leader in emergency department clinical operations, with more than 50 publications to his name.
