Biography
Pateel earned her Master of Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health in 2023. She currently serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Her dedication to vulnerable communities, particularly children and older adults, has been shaped by her diverse research experiences. Her research interests include aging and health, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, trauma, mental health, global health, and the health effects of humanitarian crises. Under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Lowe and Dr. Sharon Chekijian, Pateel leads research efforts on the mental health effects of the forcibly displaced Artsakh population and has disseminated findings at local and international conferences including the Consortium of Universities for Global Health and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Annual Meeting.
She holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of California, Berkeley, with a double major in Public Health and Psychology. She is a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology.
