For more than 40 years, fetuses with conditions requiring special care have benefited from our world class fetal therapy services. Our coordination of care with the surgeons and the pediatric specialists at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, the home of the nation’s first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, has ensured seamless transitions from fetus to newborn for babies with special needs.

The Yale Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences department, has pioneered the field of fetal therapy, and our physicians are among its most experienced specialists. Many of the procedures available to women with high-risk pregnancies were first developed at Yale, including noninvasive fetal anemia assessment, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS), in utero fetal blood transfusion and invasive therapies such as fetoscopy and fetal surgery.
