What is your role within the Department of Neurology?

I support Faculty Affairs Director Michelle Vallati as the Faculty Affairs Coordinator. I work on:

  • Faculty appointments and promotions
  • Faculty onboarding, including appointments process and credentialing
  • Re-credentialing faculty, APRNs, PAs, etc.
  • Miscellaneous, including faculty leaves, workday entries, and whatever Michelle needs help with!

How long have you been at Yale for?

I began working at Yale almost 20 years ago in September 2006.

What are your proudest achievements in your current role?

I greatly enjoy working on process improvements, streamlining tasks, and providing good resources for faculty. The credentialing process for incoming faculty involves three institutions, each having its own process. The three institutions do not share information and currently, there is not one set of instructions or website explaining these processes. When I started working in Neurology two years ago, I set out to create one document describing the three processes in one set of instructions. I am proud that I was able to begin creating instructions to alleviate some of the confusion for the faculty. While not done, I continue to improve the instructions and ask new faculty to share their experiences, which I then incorporate into the instructions. I would like to eventually transfer this to our website intranet.

What are some of your goals for this year?

The Appointments and Promotions (A&P) process is another process that is confusing to our faculty. I am working to improve this and created instruction sheets for each academic appointment, providing a checklist and information for faculty up for promotion and/or appointment. I would eventually like to see these in the Department's intranet.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

My husband and I enjoy working on home improvement projects. This year, we decided to paint our summer home, a daunting task, as it has rained so much this spring and summer! We also spend a lot of time with our adult children and have just taken up playing pool with them! I also have a large flower garden in North Haven that my mom and I created 20 years ago. It is amazing to see the progress!
