Yale Clinical Immersion Program for Covidien kicks off

May 16, 2014

The inaugural Yale Clinical Immersion Program (CIP) has officially kicked-off! The first of four classes with the theme of OB/GYN began with Week I setting the stage for an exciting 12 weeks at Yale. Participants from Research & Development - Stan Kostrzewski, Ken Horton, Steve Fournier, and Rich Simpson - met with Dr. Peter Schulam, Chief of Urology at Yale-New Haven Hospital, who introduced them to the newly established Yale Center for Biomedical and Interventional Technology (CBIT), the organization overseeing the program with Covidien. Participants then took an in-depth tour of Yale Hospital and medical school, led by Lori Ryder, Patient Service Manager. The tour covered topics such as medical supply storage and transportation, nursing stations, optimal surgical suite layouts, patient data organization, and new surgical technologies within the hospital.
