Our Services
Clinical services stand at the center of the tripartite missions of the Department of Psychiatry, alongside excellence in teaching and research. Through its three main institutions, the Department hosts extraordinary programs that specialize in the major mental diseases and substance abuse treatment.
The range of clinical services spans all ages, from adolescent through geriatric populations, and all illnesses from the most severe and debilitating of psychoses and major affective disorders, to personality and addictive disorders.
Clinical programs are intimately interwoven with the training and research missions of the Department.
Yale Psychiatry's three major institutions are the Connecticut Mental Health Center, the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System, and the Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital and associated services.
In addition, the Department manages Yale Behavioral Health Services, which includes the Hamden Mental Health Center and Cedarhurst School and is affiliated with the APT Foundation, serving a large, diverse patient group for substance use and abuse problems.
