Local Community Engaged Health Research

The Community Alliance for Research and Engagement (CARE) New Haven neighborhood health survey.

Local communities play an important role in shaping access to health and welling. Faculty, researchers, and students in the Social and Behavioral Sciences work alongside community members to improve the health of New Haven residents and to reduce health disparities in the New Haven region. We are conducting this work through two major research centers. The Community Alliance for Research Engagement (CARE) is working with residents of the city’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods in order to improve living conditions and health outcomes. The New Haven MOMS Partnership brings SBS researchers and community organizations together in order to improve the well-being of lower income families, with a particular focus on maternal mental health.
