The School of Medicine’s Bicentennial will be observed during the course of the 2010–2011 academic year, starting with the White Coat Ceremony on August 19. Special events include a series of Bicentennial lectures sponsored by the school’s departments, programs, and centers; a community celebration on October 16; and a symposium on April 28–29 featuring some of the world’s preeminent biomedical scientists and scholars. Yale Medicine magazine will document a week in the life of the school in September 2010 and publish an extended photographic essay in the Winter 2011 issue.

A commemorative book, Medicine at Yale: The First 200 Years, will be published in November 2010 in association with Yale University Press. Bicentennial events and activities are being coordinated by staff in the Office of Institutional Planning and Communications, the Office of Alumni Affairs, and the University Office of Public Affairs and Communications.
