DESCRIPTION:As careers in healthcare and research become increasingly dema
nding\, the importance of practitioner self-awareness\, self-care and sel
f-management is more crucial than ever. In this lecture\, Catherine Sandl
er\, PhD\, one of the United Kingdom's most experienced executive coaches
\, will share her Emotional Profiles Triangle™ which will soon be publish
ed as a book titled Why Good People Behave Badly at Work. This model is b
ased on over 30 years of work with senior leaders across diverse professi
onal fields. During this time\, Sandler detected a strong link between th
e unconscious defenses of fight\, flight\, and freeze \, and three charac
ter types which she has called tigers\, dolphins\, and owls . Each group
in this schema has different strengths and vulnerabilities\; they also ha
ve different triggers which cause their anxiety levels to spike when face
d with adverse events. This model can help those working in academic and
