Global Health Students Advocacy Coalition
The mission of the Global Health Students Advocacy Coalition (GHAC) is to provide a platform for like-minded students across Yale university to:
- Educate and develop advocacy basics, lobby the U.S. Congress and other institutions.
- Empower students to use their training and passion in global health to bring awareness and gain support on critical global health issues rooted in ethics, human rights, and science.
- Connect students with key coalition partners and global health players to support campaigns and use the technical skills learned throughout their degree program, along with the advocacy expertise developed through GHAC to win support around the coalition's focus areas.
Focus Areas
With a strong belief that healthcare is the most potent tool for poverty alleviation, GHAC will focus on global health issues and programs that disproportionately affect the poor and achieve global health equity. The focus areas will be decided based on interests and commitments from students and are amenable to change. For now, these focus areas currently include:
- HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria
- Women and Child Health
- Vaccine inequity
- Response, prevention, and preparedness to pandemics
