Nishant K. Mishra

Dr. Mishra is a neurologist with a subspecialty interest in stroke management. He finished his medical school in December 2003 in India. Over the last two decades, he has pursued a range of clinical and research interests relevant to advancing the care of stroke patients. For example, his work on using IV tPA beyond recommendations in acute ischemic stroke significantly contributed to the field, informing physicians why several IV tPA exclusion criteria did not have a robust scientific basis.

At Yale, he is using his two-decades-long experience to lead a significant international effort: the International Post-Stroke Epilepsy Research Consortium (IPSERC). The consortium's goal is to prevent post-stroke epilepsy. He works closely with Dr. Patrick Kwan, Monash University, and a steering committee comprised Professors Jerome Engel Jr, Alon Friedman, Vijay Sharma, and Jacqueline French. He collaborates regionally and globally and leads several multinational collaborative projects to further the IPSERC's mission. He believes in promoting the younger generation of clinical neuroscientists, helping them succeed in academic medicine.
