Neuroimaging Mechanisms by Which Memory and Glucocorticoids Promote Risky Drinking

What is the purpose of this trial?

This is a research study of the brain, stress hormones, memory, and drinking. Study procedures will include: an intake visit to complete questionnaires, two MRI scans during which you will view pictures, and two visits to the Yale Stress Center to measure your memory for these pictures and complete an alcohol taste test. Before each scan, you will take a tablet that contains hydrocortisone, a steroid hormone that your body naturally produces, or a placebo pill that has no effect on your body. The main purpose of this study is to understand how hydrocortisone influences how our brains help us remember different types of information.
