What is the purpose of this trial?

  • The Yale University Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology seeks first-time pregnant women who are 18 or over to participate in an ultrasound study. The research will study pregnancy and birth outcomes. This study seeks women who are less than 12 weeks pregnant with their first baby. Eligible volunteers will participate by having 4 ultrasounds conducted during the course of their pregnancy, and complete 4 blood draws. Volunteers will also be asked to donate the placenta and cord blood after the delivery of the baby.
  • Volunteers can take home pictures of their baby. Participation in the study will take 4 hours total. Evening and weekend appointments are available if necessary.
