Development of referral strategy to improve the identification of axial spondyloarthritis among patients with chronic back pain

What is the purpose of this trial?

This is a clinical research study being done to improve the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis which is a common but underdiagnosed inflammatory rheumatic disease which affects the spine and sacroiliac joints. The study involves filling out a survey by patients with insidious onset chronic back pain that started before age of 45 years. Those who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be invited for a single study visit consisting of clinical evaluation, blood tests and x-ray & MRI of the sacroiliac joints.
