Current research projects include:

A. Pathophysiology of aortic dissection.

1. Incidence and outcomes of aortic dissection in Iceland.

2. Outcomes of open-heart operations in Iceland. (CollaboratorTómas Guðbjartsson, Professor of Surgery, U Iceland)

3. NORCAAD. Nordic Consortium on Acute Type A Aortic Dissection. Surgical outcome of 8 Nordic Centers (1159 patients).

B. Outcomes of percutaneous valve interventions

1. Collaboration with the Yale Valve Team

Additional research interest include

1. Pathology of ischemic mitral regurgitation

2. Pathophysiology of mitral valve prolapse/myxomatous mitral valve disease

3. Bicuspid aortic valve aneurysm.
