Zero sodium peritoneal dialysate protocol in human pilot study

What is the purpose of this trial?

This research study involves people who are actively undergoing peritoneal dialysis and have been on peritoneal dialysis for less than 3 years. The study will compare the ability of two different dialysis solutions to remove salt from the body. We will compare a standard peritoneal dialysis solution (Dianeal Low-Calcium with 4.25% dextrose) to a no-sodium solution (10% dextrose in sterile water). The study involves 2 treatment visits lasting up to 6 hours each and one follow-up visit that will take 30 minutes. Compensation for completion of all study procedures is up to $750.
