Blood studies of tick-borne diseases in Children

What is the purpose of this trial?

The purpose of the research conducted under this protocol are to a) develop new blood tests to improve the diagnosis of the tick-borne infection Lyme disease in its earliest stages; b) determine whether the blood tests can be used to assess response to treatment and distinguish between past infection that was treated and a new infection; and c) understand why some people present with only skin disease whereas others become very ill from the infection.
