December 17, 2020

Dr. Anthony van den Pol, Professor of Neurobiology and Psychiatry, died on Oct. 28, having built a four-decade career in which he achieved trailblazing advancements in neurobiology, virology, and oncology.

Shortly before his death, a WHRY-supported study led by Dr. van den Pol was accepted for publication in the journal Virology, demonstrating that a treatment with a genetically altered virus successfully targeted and destroyed ovarian cancer in an animal model, leading to long-term survival and demonstrating a potential breakthrough treatment for women.

Women’s Health Research at Yale expresses condolences to Dr. van den Pol’s family and recognizes that his legacy of achievements will continue to fuel our interventions and inspire our research.
