WHRY Joins The Great Give

April 26, 2016

Women’s Health Research at Yale will compete for matching funds and prizes in The Great Give 2016, the seventh annual online fundraiser created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to benefit area nonprofit organizations.

For 36 hours starting at 8 a.m. on May 3, WHRY will join more than 300 nonprofit organizations, including dozens dedicated to health and wellness in an effort to raise funds advancing efforts to help people live longer, more productive lives.

Every gift received by WHRY will receive matching funds from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Valley Community Foundation, and other generous community sponsors. A total of $170,000 in matching funds and prizes are in play.

WHRY is eligible to win the Alexion Prize for Health, a $2,500 grant awarded to the New Haven-based organization working in Health and Wellness with the greatest number of individual donors.

“A donation during The Great Give will help us to spread better research practices and to discover new avenues for treatment through a relatively small investment that can be amplified for the greatest impact,” said WHRY Director Carolyn M. Mazure, Ph.D. “We are blessed with so many dedicated and thoughtful supporters. And we are so pleased to partner with The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven in this valuable effort.”

A gift to WHRY can help develop new and better treatments for uterine cancer, uncover the biology behind gender differences in aging, and explore treatments for girls with autism.

A donation during The Great Give can be amplified for the greatest impact.

A gift can engage the public and professional communities with new gender-specific health information, help build research partnerships to respond to crucial health questions facing women, and provide a national voice on women’s health that informs public policy. And a gift can train the next generation of researchers to study the influence of sex and gender on health outcomes.

It all starts with a gift. Click here to learn more about The Great Give.
