Biography
Dr. Beasley grew up in rural northern Michigan as the son of a physician. He earned his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, receiving several campus honors prior to graduation. Dr. Beasley then joined the United States Peace Corps and served as a science and mathematics teacher at a rural secondary school in Tanzania for two years. While there he met his wife, Mwavisu, and they started a family with the birth of their oldest daughter before returning to the United States. After the birth of a second daughter, Dr. Beasley returned to Michigan State University to attend medical school. Twelve years of medical training, during which time two more daughters joined the family, then ultimately culminated in a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Upon graduation, Dr. Beasley joined the faculty of the Yale Section of Cardiovascular Medicine. He attends on the in-patient heart failure and transplant cardiology services at Yale New Haven Hospital's York Street and St. Raphael's campuses, sees clinic patients in Norwich, and works in the cardiac cath labs at the St. Raphael's campus in New Haven and at the Lawrence and Memorial campus in New London. Finally, Dr. Beasley is a Medical Corps Officer in the United States Navy Reserve. He and his family have settled along the lovely Connecticut shoreline.
