Christina L. Barretta, RN is a Registered Nurse Coordinator in the Department of Urology. As an integral member of the Gender Affirming Surgery team, she welcomes new patients interested in the program and continues care for patients throughout their transition. Christina ensures that patients and family members have the appropriate information and resources needed. As a consistent primary contact for patients and their families, she educates patients pre- and post-operatively and facilitates consistent and supportive care throughout the surgical process. Christina received her B.S. in Biology from Salve Regina University. Looking for a more fulfilling career as a distinguished health care provider, she directed her focus to nursing; graduating with a B.S.N. from University of Rhode Island. As a CN II, Christina’s experience includes employment as a RN in the Adult Emergency Department and Adult Post-Anesthesia Care Unit at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Fentyshia L. Daniels, LMSW is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the Gender Affirming Surgery Program within the Department of Urology. She provides screenings and mental health services to support patients in addition to coordinating resources and appropriate referrals to promote psychological well-being. She facilitates the gender-affirming support group and offers information on the program. A former program supervisor for a child and family guidance center, she has a range of practice experiences integrating trauma-informed approaches by helping populations with vulnerabilities and their families. Fentyshia received her master’s degree in Social Work from Adelphi University School of Social Work and is an adjunct professor in the Connecticut Community College System inspiring new and future human service practitioners.
Allister Hirschman, PA-C is currently the Clinical Coordinator for the Gender Affirming Surgery program in the Department of Urology, and serves as hospital liaison to the Dean's Advisory Council on LGBTQI+ Affairs. For close to ten years, Allister served as a Physician Assistant in Yale New Haven Hospital's Adult Emergency Department and was twice named AED Employee of the Month.
Christy Tucker provides administrative support for Program Director Dr. Stan Honig and the Gender Affirming Surgery program. She serves as the initial recipient of all new patient referrals and is the first point of contact for patients in our program. She continues this communication between the doctor and patients by handling all scheduling and phone call triaging to further patient care. Lisa Vece began her career as a Medical Assistant in 1994. In 1999, she moved to a private practice in urology, where she worked as a Medical Secretary. Lisa has been working in urology for 19 years and is now a Surgical Coordinator for Yale Urology, coordinating all surgical procedures for the Gender Affirming Surgery program. Lisa strives to provide the highest level of patient care in a friendly and compassionate manner. Lisa is a graduate of Branford Hall Career Institute, and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
