INFORMATION FOR

Interested In Becoming a SP?

You are welcome to submit your interest in becoming a SP at any point throughout the year. We are interested in hiring individuals with acting, SP, or healthcare educator experience. Submit your resume detailing your relevant experience and headshot or current photo to SP Program Manager Barbara Hildebrand.

In the Spring semester, Yale School of Medicine (YSM) holds a job fair to provide interested actors the opportunity to learn more about the SP Program. The YSM Teaching and Learning Center hires individuals annually in preparation for the start of each academic year.

In this program, it's so rewarding to hear back from the students, how these simulations are so helpful in painting a more realistic interaction with a patient, beyond the learned text.

Gracy K - YSM SP

Being a SP at Yale has been life changing. Having the opportunity to work with students on their future is rewarding and fulfilling throughout this experience. I have not only learned more about myself as an actor, but as a human. This Program is unlike any other because it allows you to lose yourself fully in a character, but also participate in a supportive diverse community looking to improve and reinvent the medical industry. I’m so thrilled to be a part of this team.

Bobby H - YSM SP

Since becoming a YSM SP, I’ve had the privilege of working and collaborating with some of the brightest minds in medicine to portray characters with all too real physical and mental health issues. It’s given me the opportunity to flex and strengthen my acting muscles and practice empathy as part of everyday life.

Mark G - YSM SP

As a SP, I've paid attention to the goals set for the medical students because some of them can be applied in everyday life. I've learned how to be a better listener and a more effective communicator.
