Climate

  • Initiative: Examine screening procedures to avoid hiring faculty/admin/staff with history of harassment.
  • Start Date: 1-May-22
  • Projected Completion Date: 1-Jan-23
  • Goal: Yale consider a policy whereby faculty found guilty of harassment not be hired.
  • Action Plan: This is currently in place in YNHH. Collaboration could be considered.
  • Action Taken: Request made to Dean Brown.
  • Responsible Parties: Dean Brown, CDO, Faculty

Recruitment & Retention

  • Initiative: Consistent procedures across search committees
  • Start Date: 1-May-22
  • Projected Completion Date: 1-May-23
  • Goal: Establish written guidelines for search committees across YSM, including guidelines for tracking and oversight
  • Action Plan: Establish a committee to write these guidelines that includes those with experience in DEI, gender equity, recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Action Taken: Request made to Dean Brown.

Equity

  • Initiative: Salary Equality
  • Start Date: 1-May-22
  • Projected Completion Date: 1-May-23
  • Goal: Provide intra-departmental equity.
  • Action Plan: Request discussion regarding unpaid work primarily given to women in many departments. Measure this, account for and correct this.

  • Initiative: Transparency in resource allocation: including startup packages, academic vs. teaching time, clinic responsibilities leadership opportunities
  • Start Date: 1-May-22

  • Goal: Develop a method
  • Action Plan: Request dean require Dept Chairs to develop a method to provide this transparency.
  • Action Taken: Request made to Dean Brown.

  • Initiative: Improve Climate: Establish a transparent mediation process
  • Start Date: 1-May-22
  • Projected Completion Date: 1-Jan-23
  • Goal: Clarify the current mediation processes for disputes. Review the processes. SWIM to propose this policy to the Dean of YSM
  • Action Plan: Include mediation process on the Dean's website
