DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Tuesday\, May 19\, at 4 p.m .\, in the Mary 
 S. Harkness Auditorium for the eighth annual Perspectives of Women in Sci
 ence Lectureship hosted by the MD-PhD Program and the Office of the Dean 
 of Yale School of Medicine. This event highlights the unique perspectives
  of women scientists who discuss the personal and professional opportunit
 ies and challenges that shaped their paths to a successful research caree
 r. We are excited to welcome Marina Picciotto\, PhD \, who will deliver t
 his year’s lecture\, “Rewarding Neuroscience: Looking Back on Mentorship 
 and Research into Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors and Addiction.” Dr. P
 icciotto is the Charles B. G. Murphy Professor of Psychiatry\, and profes
 sor in the Child Study Center\, of neuroscience\, and of pharmacology. Sh
 e holds several leadership positions at Yale\, including director of the 
 Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program\; deputy director of the Kavli Ins
 titute for Neuroscience\; and is deputy chair for basic science research 
 and director of the Division of Molecular Psychiatry in the Department of
  Psychiatry. Her research investigates the neurobiology of psychiatric il
 lness\, with expertise in molecular and translational neuroscience\, beha
 vioral pharmacology\, and mouse genetics. Dr. Picciotto has won numerous 
 awards\, including the Carnegie Prize in Mind and Brian Sciences and the 
 Langley Award. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Scienc
 es and the National Academy of Medicine and is president of the American 
 Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Picciotto earned her BS i
 n biology from Stanford University\, her PhD in molecular neurobiology at
  The Rockefeller University\, and completed her postdoctoral training at 
 the Institut Pasteur. A reception in the Harkness Auditorium lobby will f
