March 29, 2023

The International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP) has selected Matthew Girgenti, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry, to be one of seven recipients of the 2023 CINP Rafaelsen Young Investigators Award.

The award supports the attendance of young scientists at the CINP World Congress. This year’s conference will be held May 7-10 in Montreal, Canada.

Award recipients are presented with a certificate, cash stipend, accommodations, and complimentary registration fee at the conference.

Girgenti is part of the Division of Molecular Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and is a member of the Wu Tsai Institute at Yale. He is also an Investigator in the National Center for PTSD at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. His research focuses on discerning the neurobiology of psychiatric illnesses through understanding the regulation of gene expression in postmortem human brain. He applies a combination of molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches to understand the underpinnings of PTSD, major depression and alcohol use disorder.
