In Memoriam: Craig D. Tifford, MD
1968–2021
Dr. Tifford received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Subsequently, Dr. Tifford completed his Orthopedic Surgical Residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and then his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the internationally recognized Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, California.
Dr. Tifford was board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and sub-specialty board certified by the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He was a Board Member of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society and an active member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Tifford was the author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters, had presented and lectured at meetings nationwide and had appeared on radio and television including WABC, Fox and Connecticut News Channel 12. His areas of interest and expertise included athletic injuries, arthroscopy and reconstruction of the knee and shoulder joints. Dr. Tifford was an Associate Master Instructor at the Orthopedic Learning Center [OLC] in Rosemont, IL where he was involved in the teaching of arthroscopic surgery skills to surgeons from all over the world. He was Regional Medical Director, Fairfield County, Yale Medicine and Medical Director of the Long Ridge Medical Center in Stamford, CT.
