Dr. Bohdan Pomahac Joins Smilow Cancer Hospital

Bohdan Pomahac, MD, is Chief of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and a Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine and cares for patients with reconstructive needs at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Prior to joining Yale, Dr. Pomahac was Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Distinguished Chair in Surgery and Director of Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He received his medical degree from Palacky University School of Medicine in the Czech Republic and completed his residency at the Harvard Integrated Plastic Residency Program.

Dr. Pomahac’s clinical interests include facial recon-struction and reconstruction of oncologic defects, including breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, and microsurgery. He is dedicated to the care of women undergoing reconstruc-tion aft er surgery for breast cancer and prophylactic procedures to ensure each patient has the best possible outcome. Dr. Pomahac specializes in complex reconstructive surgery and is involved with cutting-edge research in machine learning and 3D printing. He is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Honor from the President of the Czech Republic. Dr. Pomahac has been rated a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly annually since 2016 and Best of Boston in Plastic Surgery since 2010.
