We are delighted to announce the appointment of Derek Steinbacher, D.M.D., M.D. as Director of Dental Services, Oral Maxillofacial and Craniofacial Surgery. Derek will lead the formation of a multidisciplinary team covering both Hospital campuses and outpatient facilities as we enhance these programs.
Derek joined the plastic surgery faculty in 2010 to expand the craniofacial program developed by Dr. Persing. His outstanding surgical skills and dental training allowed him to build a substantial practice and assess the opportunity for collaboration with related specialty services. With the integration of the oral surgery and dental training programs across the York Street and St. Raphael campuses these programs will be strengthened and with the reorganization of our ambulatory care programs, new facility options will be evaluated.
Derek completed Medical School at Harvard Medical School and his Residency and Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Lahey Clinic. He is also a licensed dentist and is committed to cross departmental collaborative services. He was recently appointed as an Associate Professor in Surgery.
Diana Ellison has been appointed as the Hospital’s project director to partner with Dr. Steinbacher as we integrate Hospital, YMG and NEMG resources.
