Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA, FACS, professor of surgery (oncology, breast) at Yale School of Medicine and deputy chief medical officer for surgical services at Smilow Cancer Hospital, has been accepted as a member of the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He will be formally inducted during the Academy's annual ceremony in September.
Being elected as a member of the Academy is one of the highest honors in surgical education. Established in 2017, the Academy recognizes nationally and internationally distinguished surgeon educators whose leadership, mentorship and innovation have advanced surgical education. Members work with the ACS to shape the future of surgical training through collaboration, scholarship and faculty development.
Golshan previously served for three years as the Department of Surgery's interim vice chair of education and now serves as executive vice chair and director of medical education, where he continues to help advance the Department's educational mission. Throughout his career, he has trained more than 100 breast surgical oncology fellows, many of whom now serve as faculty members and leaders at top academic medical centers across the United States and around the world.
