Yale Medicine is pleased to announce the recruitment of Dr. Neil Floch as Director of Bariatric Surgery at Greenwich Hospital, effective May 2023. Dr. Floch will join the Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery Faculty via Norwalk Hospital, where he led the development of the surgical weight loss program as Section Head of General Surgery and Director of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is distinguished nationally for his expertise in bariatric, anti-reflux, and laparoscopic surgery.

“It is an honor to join the exceptional team of scientists and clinicians at Yale in our effort to provide the highest-quality care to our patient community,” said Dr. Floch.

As Director of Bariatric Surgery at Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Floch will oversee programmatic growth, quality, safety, and patient experience at the Fairfield County location, in collaboration with the Division’s well-established programs at Yale New Haven Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital.

“Expanding our Digestive Health programs across the system has been a top priority for all of us, and Dr. Floch’s 18 years of experience in the local area will be especially beneficial,” said Dr. John Morton, Division Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Yale Department of Surgery.

Vice-President of Digestive Health and Administration for Yale New Haven Health System Marie-Helene Gratton added: “We are thrilled to have a clinician of Dr. Floch’s caliber to build this important digestive health program for our Greenwich community.”

A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Floch completed his residency at Beth Israel Medical center in New York City; and a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery from The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida. His father, Dr. Martin Floch, served as a distinguished Yale Clinical Professor in the Gastroenterology Division of the Yale Department of Medicine for many years.
