Dr. Ahuja Appointed Chair-Elect of Premier Faculty Advocacy Group, AAMC-CFAS

Department of Surgery Chair, Dr Nita Ahuja has been appointed Chair-Elect of The Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS) for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). AAMC is a a not-for-profit association that represents all 149 accredited U.S. medical schools, nearly 400 major teaching hospitals and academic medical systems, and more than 80 academic and scientific societies. Within AAMC’s leadership structure, CFAS serves to identify and voice critical issues facing medical school faculty and academic societies.

Dr. Ahuja will serve a two-year term as Chair-elect of CFAS, which includes direct purview over the CFAS Program Committee and CFAS spring meeting content, followed by a 2-year term as CFAS Chair beginning in 2023. Dr. Ahuja will also serve on the AAMC Board of Directors during this period.”

I am honored to have been nominated by my colleagues to have a seat at the table with major influencers in academia, and to bring the experiences and challenges our physicians are facing,” said Dr. Ahuja.

Dr. Ahuja has championed the AAMC mission since joining CFAS as a junior representative for Johns Hopkins University in 2013. She currently serves as the senior representative for Yale University along with Dr. Sinead Hay in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Ahuja’s term as Chair-Elect begins Nov. 10, 2021, following the AAMC's national Learn Serve Lead conference.
