Yale School of Medicine has received a $1.1 million philanthropic gift to support the research and clinical work of Department of Surgery faculty members Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA and Siba Haykal, MD, PhD. The spendable fund was established through the bequest of a grateful patient family.

Golshan, a breast surgeon, and Haykal, a plastic surgeon specializing in microsurgery and reconstruction, collaborate closely to advance patient-centered surgical care. The gift recognizes the impact of Yale’s multidisciplinary, team-based approach that integrates oncologic and reconstructive expertise to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients.

The endowed support will advance innovation in surgical research and care delivery, underscoring the vital role of cross-specialty collaboration in addressing complex clinical challenges.
