The Department of Surgery's fourth annual Research Day, "The Science of Success," will be held April 7, 2021 as a remote online event, featuring keynote speakers, Dr. Dorry Segev, Marjory K. and Thomas Pozefsky Professor of Surgery and Associate Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins; and Dr. Amy Justice, C.N.H. Long Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health (Health Policy) at Yale. Drs. Segev and Justice were previously slated to present at the 2020 symposium, which was modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has made evident the value of discovery and curiosity to fundamentally change paradigms of patient care and our understanding of disease. This year's Research Day is both a celebration and call-to-action, as we share our best work, and recommit to our critical responsibility as academic surgeons drive scientific dialogue into the future.'” said Dr. Peter Gruber, Vice Chair of Research.

Per tradition, the 2021 event will feature an abstract competition, for the chance to present at a departmental forum.
All surgical residents, faculty, postdoctoral fellows, APPs, and students are encouraged to participate. Abstracts are due March 15, 2021.
