Yale Surgery Research Day 2020

January 08, 2020

The Department of Surgery's third annual Research Day will be held April 1, 2020, 12-5 p.m. in TAC Auditorium. The theme of the event is “The Science of Success."

The event will include a poster session, a surgeon-scientist panel, and keynote presentations by Dr. Dorry Segev, the Marjory K. and Thomas Pozefsky Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins and the Associate Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery, as well as by Dr. Amy Justice, the C.N.H. Long Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health (Health Policy) at Yale.

“The Department of Surgery Research Day gives us a day to pause and think about our greater mission as academic surgeons. We continue to push the limits of patient care every day and research gives us the chance to fundamentally change paradigms of patient care, taking what we have to the next level,” said Surgery Research Day Committee co-Chair Dr. Alan Dardik.

“Today’s innovation is the health care of tomorrow. Our goal is to be at the forefront of this innovation in all domains of the surgical sciences. Research Day is a way to reflect what we have accomplished, and develop new ideas for the coming year,” said Surgery Research Day Committee co-Chair Dr. Peter Gruber.

All residents, faculty, postdoctoral fellows, surgical APPs, and students are encouraged to submit an abstract for the poster competition (see sidebar for guidelines). The top poster authors will be invited to give short presentations and compete for a prize.

Surgery Research Day Committee members include Drs. Jolanta Gorecka, Matthew Shaughnessy, Tristen Park, Robert Becher, John Geibel, Peter Gruber, and Alan Dardik.
