The Samuel Jordan Graham Scholarship in Academic Surgery

The Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the establishment of two scholarships for visiting medical students from diverse backgrounds to participate in sub-internship rotations in Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The awards of $1500 each, are intended to defray the cost of travel, room and board incurred while visiting Yale for a clinical rotation during their final year. Yale New Haven Hospital is a major referral center for surgical disease and trauma.

Students enrolled in our four-week sub-internship program will be an integral part of the surgical team and function as an intern with supervised evaluation and management of patients.

Eligibility:

The ideal candidate is pursuing a career in surgery and plans to apply for surgical residency. He or she will have an outstanding academic profile at an LCME-accredited US medical school. Special consideration will be given to applicants who by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any other personal identification is an underrepresented minority in academic surgery.

Interview:

Selection Committee will interview qualified candidates between June 1 and June 30.
