Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Receives Highest Quality Rating
The Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery at Yale University received the highest Composite Quality Rating by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) National Database in four of five procedure categories: isolated aortic valve replacement (AVR); combined AVR and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG); mitral valve repair and replacement (MVRR); and combined MVRR and CABG.

Personalized care for aortic aneurysms has arrived
Researchers at the Aortic Institute at Yale have tested the genomes of more than 100 patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms, a potentially lethal condition, and provided genetically personalized care. Their work will also lead to the development of a “dictionary” of genes specific to the disease, according to researchers.
